This year many of the upper-level students may feel like freshmen. With the new building and merger many students are just now adjusting to how things work at Prep. However, one class that has had to adjust the most is the freshman class, who are in a new experience altogether.

“So far Prep has been very friendly and welcoming.” freshman Finleigh Handzel said. “I have made many friends who I didn’t even know before.”

This sentiment has been echoed by other first-year students.

“Everyone is very welcoming to me, including upperclassmen,” freshman Max Johnson said.

Like among most students and faculty, the new building has been a big talking point with the consensus opinion of it being a great addition. This was echoed by the freshmen.

“The new building is a good change of pace,” freshman Lucas Izbicki said. “There are many new things which will help me grow in my learning. I really like the Student Life Center, which is a nice place to meet with teachers.”

While many of the freshmen have a positive view of Prep so far, they have a few things that have been hard to get used to.

“Sometimes eight classes a day is hard to deal with as opposed to block scheduling,” Finleigh said. “With most teachers giving out a lot of work, it can be a challenge to balance school work and extracurriculars.”

There are some other issues that freshmen say they are facing.

“Not having teachers in one classroom will take time to get used to,” Max said. “I am used to being able to pop in and ask questions all the time, which has changed this year.”

Overall, the main message the freshmen had was that students and faculty have been welcoming and hopefully they continue to be.

“So far my experience has been amazing and all my teachers have helped me transition to high school,” freshman Mason Weed said.
