CYO Game of the Week and Updated Power Rankings

CYO+Game+of+the+Week+and+Updated+Power+Rankings

This week’s Game of the Week features Saint Jude’s (OLC) and Our Lady of Peace (OLP). OLC is coming off an impressive win against a highly talented Mount Carmel squad. OLC started off very slowly, but had incredible ball movement as the game progressed. OLC was led in scoring by the guard tandem of Jack Kloecker, who had 18 points, and Ryan Podufal, who had 15 points. OLP, on the other hand, cruised past Saint Peter’s in their home opener. OLP was able to clear their bench during the game, which gave the starters time to rest and prepare for the big game this week.
As a result of the close loss to OLC, OLMC’s star forward and preseason All-CYO second-teamer, Dillon Wolbert, wanted to reassure to me that he was meant to be on the second team roster. Dillon had a pretty bad game with roughly 5 points and 6 rebounds. He also fouled out midway through the fourth quarter. Wolbert said in a recent interview that he was truly sorry for the disappointing game that he had. “I extend my sincerest apologies for the poor display of not only my basketball skills but also my attitude yesterday,” Wolbert said. “From this poor start, fortunately, I can only get better. I intend on living up to being, not second-team, but first-team. After last night, I made a promise to myself to be the best player on the floor at all times, not only with how I play, but with how I carry myself. My energy will be unmatched, and my uncanny rebounding ability will be in full effect. I may have seemed a little rusty to you and my other fans, [but] this will be worked on all week, with practice. A wise man once told me, ‘practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect.’ The next game there will be a whole new Dillon Wolbert on the floor, and I can assure you of that.”
