Student Profile: Brendan Jubulis

Brendan Jubulis is currently a senior at Cathedral Prep. He has developed his love for football since 5th grade when playing for the combined grade school team of OLP and St. Peter’s. The schools had to combine because of a lack of players coming out for the team. That did not phase him in his love of the game and that’s all you can ask from a player.
Brendan, like many people, has a favorite NFL team that he follows. He has followed the Buffalo Bills throughout his whole life. Brendan had two favorite numbers growing up, 78 and 55. He wore 78 for Bruce Smith who leads the Bills in all time sacks and 55 for Jerry Hughes, a defensive end who was traded to the Bills in 2013. Brendan had to give up 78 his senior year because the jersey size was too big.
His grade school football career differed with his high school career. Brendan initially had hoped of playing running back until he noticed how much faster the pace was at the high school level, but that did not phase him at all either
for he went to the defensive side of the ball. Brendan stated, “I like hitting people more than being hit.” He realized what he had to do to be successful on defense and he gets the job done.
This year the Prep football team opened its season with a trip to Florida, an experience unlike any other in Prep football history. Brendan said he experienced many things he had not before. It was his first time in Florida, and his favorite moment was walking into Disney’s Magic Kingdom and seeing the big castle that he had previously only seen in so many pictures. It was a memorable moment for Brendan that he will never forget.
Even though the team played well, they had lost to a nationally ranked Wakulla War Eagles team. “Coach Mischler
thought we needed some more experience considering how well we have been playing through the past years,” Brendan said. They did indeed get the worthiness of playing a tough opponent by traveling to Florida. Brendan brought back memories and strengthened friendships with teammates by staying down there for nearly a week.
Brendan knows his senior year will be one to remember. Wearing number 55, the supporters of Prep football will be looking out for aggressive defensive plays from him.
