Villa senior retreat focuses on past, present, future

The Villa senior class of 2022 gathered together on Sept. 10 to celebrate and honor their sisterhood. They met at the Hagerty Family Events Center at 10 a.m. to partake in Mass, prayer, and bonding activities. The theme of the retreat was past, present, and future in regards to their final year of high school at Villa Maria Academy.

The seniors had the opportunity to lead their own retreat and make what they wanted out of the experience. Students eagerly began to fill out packets upon arrival within the bleachers. “We learned more about ourselves and about what is going to prepare us for our future and college,” senior Emily Blenner said. There were questions about each stage of time to correlate with the theme. The packets were completed individually and later discussed in randomized groups. By not being permitted to select their own groups, the seniors were able to connect in ways that they had not been able to since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This retreat has really brought me closer to my sisters, especially since the pandemic,” senior Molly Fehr said. “I bonded with girls that I haven’t talked to since the pandemic hit.”

Some girls even had the chance to talk with others that they had not spoken to during their time here at Villa. The girls really bonded through self-reflection and opening up to one another. As their final months as high school students roll around the corner, the retreat provided insight into the students’ vocations as Villa alum.

The sisterhood will remain in the hearts of Villa students and graduates for as long as they cherish the memories they have made and shared in the past, present, and future. As future alum, it is their responsibility to keep the traditions of Villa and sisterhood alive.
