No Shave November begins

No+Shave+November+begins

No Shave November is an event to raise awareness for those that have lost their hair while dealing with cancer. At Cathedral Prep, beard passes are sold for $20, and all students can participate.

On Monday, Oct.18, Lisa Fournier, the wife of former Prep ROTC instructor Col. James Fournier, passed away at the age of 56. This year’s No Shave November will be held in her memory.

No Shave November is great for students that don’t want to shave their facial hair and is a great way to raise money. All the money that is raised will benefit cancer awareness and help those who need it most. When buying this pass students are relieved of all shaving responsibilities in the dress and grooming code for the entire month of November.

Students who get their beard pass are automatically entered into the contest. The student who grows out the best beard will earn a Harry’s shave set. On top of winning the shave set, the winner will also win $30 worth of Chick-Fil-A gift cards. So keep growing those beards, boys!

Senior Collin Hudson said he doesn’t care too much about No Shave November but appreciates the cause. “I’m glad all proceeds benefit the Fournier family,” Collin said. “I think Prep did a good thing there, but I’m not going to be participating in No Shave November.”

Senior Griffin Irving also mentioned that he won’t be participating in No Shave November this year, but he said wanted to donate $20 anyway because it’s for a good cause.

“No Shave November is a really cool thing they have here at Prep and is hosted for a great cause,” Griffin said. “Us here can make a difference and raise money for those who are suffering most. I wanted to give $20 because I know the Fournier family is hurting, and if I can help in any way that I can, I will.”

No shave November is a great event that Prep hosts, and it helps the people who need it most. This is a great opportunity for students at Prep to make a difference. With that being said, No Shave November will be going on for the whole month of November. By the end, the person with the most sleek, oiled, thick, bushy beard will be rewarded.
