Cathedral Prep offers a lot of different sports to compete in. A few that come to mind are football, basketball, and baseball. Many people enjoy watching or participating in sports. Some people prefer to not participate in them, due to the time involved, the cost, or just not being interested in the sports that are offered.

Senior Adam Gavio saw this problem and wanted to do something about it. He wanted to make a club for people who wanted to participate in some sort of sport without the cost that’s associated with it. He came up with the intramural sports program that students can participate in as a club activity with some of their friends.

“The program offers whatever sports we can do in the gym or outside the gym when the weather is nice,” Adam said.  “Sports we have done in the past include volleyball, badminton, pickleball, and cycling.”

With the initial success last school year, the Intramural Club has grown into one of the largest activities to do in school. Adam said that his favorite part of the entire experience was “watching my vision grow from an one-off idea into one of the largest clubs at school.”

The Intramural club has also gained a lot of praise from some faculty members as well.

“The Intramural Club has grown into a suitable replacement for P.E. for the upper grades since they don’t have P.E. anymore, physical education and health teacher Mr. Schreffler said. “The club gives students the chance to be physically active in less demanding ways than other options at school.”
