Student Profile: Andrew Kolodychak

The goal for students is to find successful path at Cathedral Prep, whether it’s academically or athletically. Andrew Kolodychak, who’s in his senior year, exceeds expectations with his various leadership roles, academic success, and athletics.

Andrew is well-known around the school mainly for his hard-work and determination to have the grades he has. Andrew has had the highest QPA in his grade almost every quarter. This follows his rigorous schedule of various college courses through Gannon University, and multiple AP classes. “Andrew is a kind student who works hard to succeed,” AP Physics teacher Mr. Biebel said. “His work ethic really goes unmatched.”

This academic success isn’t the only thing that puts him ahead of other students. Andrew also is in the position of a few leadership roles. Andrew holds a strong position in a few different clubs. He’s a class officer as the president of the senior class, a president of Key Club, vice president of student council, and a captain of the swim team.

Although Andrew may seem to only thrive in an academic field, he is also involved with lots of more social groups as well, such as being a co-officiate of Cathedral Prep’s Rally Crew. This group is meant to lead the rest of the school in school spirit, especially at different sporting events. They’re the group of guys who stand in the front and encourage everyone to get the players of the school going.

All of the success doesn’t stop there. The class president is also a varsity letterman in two different sports as well. Andrew has played lacrosse each year he’s been at Prep along with him being a captain of Cathedral Prep’s swim team. He has already found success athletically, such as winning states in the 2018-19 season. Andrew leads the team with fellow seniors, Kyle Sargent and Charles Agresti.

“Andrew has been one of my best friends since middle school, and he’s always had one of the strongest influences on me,” senior Charles Agresti said. “He’s made me into a better person and has always guided me into the right direction.”

Andrew has decided to continue his education and has been accepted at the University of Notre Dame. He will major in biology at one of the most prestigious schools in the United States.

“He’s going to be one of the most successful people I’ll know when I’m older,” fellow swim captain Kyle Sargent mentioned. “He’s always had the right mindset, and he doesn’t give up. He knows what he’s doing all the time, yet he pushes himself to go harder and past expectations.”
