The Cathedral Prep Jazz band has more and more kids interested each year. Jazz Band is a year-long class taken at Cathedral Prep, taught by Mr. Steadman. It offers a variety of different things students can do. There are multiple instruments that can be played, such as the piano, violin, trumpet, and many more.
Jazz band teacher Mr. Steadman mentioned how excited he was for this year.
“Last year didn’t run all that smoothly due to COVID and other challenges,” Mr. Steadman said. “So this year we expect to have a much better year.”
Mr. Steadman is excited for the group of students in Jazz Band this year.
“We’ve got 13 guys in the Jazz Band class and a good variety of students,” he said. “There are three seniors, and the rest are underclassmen, so it’s a really good balance of kids.”
One of those seniors is Anthony Cuzzola.
“The Jazz band is a really good class, and everyone in here enjoys it,” Anthony said. “Last year was kind of a failure also due to COVID-19 and other complications, so this year means more because of that.”
The Jazz band here at Cathedral Prep is a great way for students to get involved. They plan on holding a winter and a spring performance for all parents to attend. With last year being COVID, this year they plan on being able to perform and practice more and more.
