Cathedral Prep’s women’s tennis team, led by Coach Taylor, had an impressive season, finishing as D-10 champions, over Warren, for the seventh consecutive season.

In singles play, Anna Poranski, Annie Prichard, and Sophia Glance were victorious. Senior Annie Prichard and sophomore Sophia Glance were also D-10 doubles champions.

Members of the team competed at the state tournament in Hershey, finishing fourth overall in the state. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Lancaster Country Day 3-2. After an admirable effort in the semifinals, they fell to Sewickley Academy, 4-0, to close out their season.

The team is proud of the dedication that allowed them to continue their past success at a new school under a new name.

“I think it was a very special season with the name change, and I think we all tried our best this season to represent the new name well,” junior Anna Poranski said. “It was very exciting, especially being able to win the [D-10] title as the first women’s Cathedral Prep tennis team. I think it showed how hard we worked and how much effort we put into the sport.”

The team’s future looks bright as the players look forward to another successful season at Cathedral Prep.

“I am super excited for next season because we will have a very similar team to what he has this year because we are only losing one senior, Poranski said. “However, Annie was a huge part of our team so we will definitely have big shoes to fill.”

Annie Prichard, the lone senior, reflected sentimentally upon her accomplishments throughout her high school tennis career.

“I’m very proud of my team and am glad to have celebrated our achievements together.”
