The 2014 Extreme Rules special event comes live from the Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey tonight, Sunday, May 4. Here’s a preview of the card:
Wee-LC Match: El Torito vs. Hornswoggle
This is the first ever “Wee-LC” match in WWE history. It features two vertically challenged men who are looking to get back on track and restore themselves to relevance. Hornswoggle is the seasoned veteran with the WWE and was even Mr. McMahon’s illegitimate son for awhile. El Torito is the young gun looking to make a name for himself. Look for the 3MB vertically challenged to knock of the Los Matadores’ pet.
Prediction: Hornswoggle wins
2-on-1 Handicap match: Alexander Rusev vs. R-Truth/Xavier Woods
The Bulgarian brute has taken the WWE by storm, not suffering his first loss yet in the company. After defeating each Truth and Woods in singles matches in consecutive weeks, Rusev will have all he can handle in the ring come Sunday when he has to take the both of them on at the same time. Look for him to remain undefeated as well.
Prediction: Alexander Rusev wins via submission
Triple Threat Match: Rob Van Dam vs. Cesaro vs. Jack Swagger
This match has come to fruition as a result of the split of the Real Americans and losses by all three men in the number one contender for the Intercontinental Championship tournament. As a result of Cesaro leaving manager Zeb Colter and partner Jack Swagger for rival manager Paul Heyman, Cesaro has only done great things. Swagger has noticeably been jealous of Cesaro leading this feud to come to a head here. RVD denied both Paul Heyman and Zeb Colter’s offers to manage him as RVD said he has always worked alone and he would rather work alone. I look for the Equalizer to come
big into play here and win this match.
Prediction: Cesaro wins via pinfall
Divas Championship Match: Paige (c) vs. Tamina Snuka
After pulling off a memorable upset and maybe the most in the butterfly belt’s history by defeating AJ Lee, Paige looks to win over Tamina. The second generation superstar Tamina looks to claim her first championship here. All signs point towards a Paige retainment here.
Prediction: Paige wins via pinfall
Intercontinental Championship Match: Bad News Barrett vs. Big E (c)
After winning the number one contender’s tournament for the opportunity to compete for the belt, Bad News Barrett will do exactly just that. Big E has had a mediocre run, (putting it nicely), as intercontinental champion since he took the strap off of Curtis Axel. He just has not performed at the level that the company was hoping for. Look for Barrett’s bull hammer to end Big E’s championship run.
Prediction: New Champion Bad News Barrett wins via pinfall
Steel Cage Match: John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt
This feud has had layers over the last few months looking as if this will be the second match in what will presumably be a three match series. After picking up the first victoryof the series at WrestleMania, John Cena has looked a little skittish in past weeks and finally looks as if Bray Wyatt has gotten into the head of the leader of the CeNation. Look for Wyatt to finish off Cena with Sister Abigail and walk out of the cage.
Prediction: Bray Wyatt wins via pinfall
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match: Kane vs. Daniel Bryan (c)
With the inclusion of the extreme rules stipulation this looks as if it is playing right into the hands of the Devil’s favorite demon. The “Yes!” Movement leader looks to be in jeopardy especially after the brutal beat down he took at the hands of Kane a couple of weeks back. Now that his wife is in this mess and the odds are stacked against him, Daniel Bryan chances do not look good. That being said, he is our champion and he will find a way to win.
Prediction: Daniel Bryan retains via submission
Six Man Tag Match: The Shield vs. Evolution
This feud has been a long time coming as the Shield had defied the authority and went against their judgement before WrestleMania. After Evolution reformed, they had one main target: The Hounds of Justice. After exchanging blows back and forth in the past couple of weeks, look for the veteran team of Evolution to win on something tricky.
Prediction: Evolution wins via pinfall
