The new Marvel movie Fantastic Four: First Steps brings the superhero team back to theaters once again, with new actors and a compelling new story. It’s packed with action, emotion, and a great, thought-provoking storyline for longtime fans to enjoy.
The movie follows Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm after they get their powers. Rather than being a heavily action-packed origin story, this version focuses more on their personal struggles and how they bond as a family.
“I think fans will be surprised at how emotional the movie is,” director Matt Shakman said, according to Alex Welsh. “It’s not just about powers—it’s about people learning who they are.”
One thing that stands out is the tone. Unlike older versions, this one feels more real. The characters argue and make mistakes, which makes them feel more human.
“This movie shows the Fantastic Four like we’ve never seen them before,” actress Vanessa Kirby said in a video on YouTube by Bonkers Toys. “They’re messy, they’re human, but that’s what makes them special.”
The special effects in this movie are used in a very clever way. Mr. Fantastic casually stretches across rooms in a simple, but very cool-looking manner and Human Torch uses his fire powers in very unique ways that haven’t been done in previous films. The visuals help bring the powers to life in a fun way.
“I had a blast filming those scenes,” Joseph Quinn said, in an article by Buffyverse. “The effects team really made our powers come to life.”
The movie also hints at future Marvel stories, but the film still works on its own even if you haven’t seen other Marvel movies.
“We wanted this movie to stand alone, but also open the door for what’s next,” Shakman said, according to Alex Welsh.
Whether you’re a big fan or just getting to know these heroes, Fantastic Four: First Steps is a fun way to meet them. It may not be perfect, but it’s a solid beginning.
“It’s only the first step,” Ebon Moss-Bachrach said, according to the TCP News Desk. “But it’s a big one.”
