Cathedral Prep students spent Friday, May 15 showing their school spirit during the annual Sports Day at the Hagerty Family Events Center. Students of every grade level went to the HFEC to compete against one another in a variety of activities and games. Students participated in sports such as ultimate frisbee, volleyball, field hockey, soccer, and many others throughout the day.
One of the biggest parts of Sports Day was the competition between grades. Each class wore custom T-shirts with unique designs that represented their grade level. The different colors and themes made it easy to recognize each class during the competitions.
Many students enjoyed the chance to compete against other grades in activities outside of normal school classes.
“My favorite game was ultimate frisbee,” said senior Alejandro Miranda. “It was fun working together with my classmates to beat the sophomores.”
At the end of Sports Day, awards were announced for both the best T-shirt design and the overall winners. The juniors won the award for best T-shirt design with their creative Cookie Monster-themed shirts. The freshmen earned first place overall and were crowned this year’s Sports Day champions. Seniors finished in second place, while sophomores came in third.
Sports Day gave students a chance to compete, work together, and enjoy time with their classmates outside of the classroom. The event was filled with energy and friendly competition, making it a memorable experience for everyone who attended, along with Catholic fellowship, faith, unity, and stronger school community bonds throughout the day. Prep showed what it really meant to “be the light.”
