Last Saturday, Cathedral Prep’s Class of 2026 gathered at Lake Shore Country Club for one of the most anticipated events of the year: Senior Prom. With graduation getting closer, the event gave students a chance to relax, celebrate, and spend time together outside of school before the school year ends.
They arrived dressed in elegant gowns, tuxedos, and suits as they entered the ballroom, which was decorated with colorful lights and formal table settings. Many took pictures with friends and dates before heading to the dance floor, where the DJ created an energetic atmosphere throughout the evening.
Senior Amanda Dong arrived early and said, “Being one of the first people there made it not overwhelming. Everyone was having a great time especially since most of the songs were requested by students themselves.”
Although many danced during the night, others spent more time sitting with friends and talking at their tables. Senior Alonna Hudson shared her opinion about the crowd’s reaction to the music and dancing.
“It was fun for me,” she said, “but watching everyone else, they felt like they did not need to participate. They were too cool to dance, and when they did, it was dry. I still had fun though.”
One of the biggest moments of the evening came when seniors gathered together for the announcement of Prom King and Queen. The room grew quiet as everyone waited to hear the winners announced. Once Maddox Ragen and Alonna Hudson were announced as the Prom King and Queen, the crowd erupted into loud cheering and shouting.
When asked if she thought she was going to be Prom Queen, Alonna said, “I feel like no, I didn’t, but also I felt like maybe there could’ve been a chance because l am very nice to everyone.”
Despite various opinions, Cathedral Prep’s Senior Prom gave seniors an unforgettable night filled with music, laughter, and memories that they will remember long after graduation.
