This week our staff wrote in response to the question: Would you rather lose your sight or your memories?
Maria Bruschi
I would rather lose my memories over my vision because I will be able to make more memories. Without my eyesight, I would not be able to make more visual memories. I heavily rely on my vision, and it’s central to the memories I have. Without the vision, audio memories wouldn’t mean much to me. It would be devastating to lose my memories, but with my eyes, I can create new ones.

I would rather lose my sight because memories are just too important to forget. I still want to be able to remember my family and friends. I would also forget how to do a bunch of stuff. If I lost my sight I could still talk and do most things. But without my memories I would lose a lot of that. It’s probably a lot easier to transition to losing your sight than losing all your memories. It would suck never being able to see again, but I still want to remember my family at the end of the day.
