Prep seniors look forward to heading off to college

Prep+seniors+look+forward+to+heading+off+to+college

As this school year begins to come to a close, most of the students at Cathedral Prep are focusing on the summer ahead, but as for the seniors, many of them are looking beyond the summer and focusing on the soon to come freshman year of college.
Sean Reed plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh. “What excites me is the amount of fun I will have meeting new people,” Sean said. “I enjoy going off to a new city, meeting new people, and learning about their culture. What I am most nervous about is the amount of time and devotion I will have to put towards my studies. I am not a great time manager, so it worries me as I go off to the University of Pittsburgh, and I am afraid I will devote my time to other such activities — other than studying.”
Many students who are preparing themselves for the same journey as Sean, are worried about similar things, including responsibility. Students will have to be responsible for all they do because they are now in charge of their own day-to-day life, not a teacher or parent. Students will also have to be able to manage their time well, for the workload will likely be much greater than what they were used to in high school.
Throughout their college experience, students meet many people who are all part of a very diverse community, but even though some may appear very different on the outside, they can learn things from people of all walks of life. The most important part of any student’s college years is the learning experience it provides from inside the classroom to just wandering campus. When asked to give words of wisdom to the soon-to-be-graduating class, Mrs. Kim said, “The journey is just as important as the destination.”
