Cathedral Prep’s yearbook is always a key moment for the seniors and parents. It’s important for every other class as well; however, it’s always going to be the last one for the senior class.

The previous yearbooks have been great and were led by former teacher Mr. Haller. However, this year a new teacher has taken over the yearbook committee duties, Ms. Samantha Muto. 

Ms. Muto also teaches freshman and sophomore English classes in addition to teaching Yearbook as an elective. She’s a little nervous to start because this is her first year of organizing a yearbook along with her first year of teaching. 

“It’s a little nerve-racking, a little overwhelming, but also exciting,” Ms. Muto said. 

It’s easily overwhelming, especially when it’s your first year. However, some of the students in the committee have been in the Yearbook class for longer than she has.

Senior Anthony Morgan has been a part of the Yearbook Committee for an ongoing three years. He’s played a lead role, taking pictures at events and organizing what parts of the year to cover. 

Knowing the bar the previous books have set, Anthony said, “I think it’ll be better than the previous couple yearbooks because the theme of the yearbook, this year, is better than any I’ve seen at my time at Prep.” 

Even though the books were very well put together, this year has the potential to surpass those expectations. 

“The most challenging part of putting together the yearbook is knowing that the seniors look forward to it because it’s the last one,” Anthony said. “We know it’ll be compared to the last couple books, so we try to improve them every year. This yearbook should hopefully be one to remember.”

The rest of the committee is equally as positive as Anthony. They all mentioned separate things they appreciated about being a part of the team.

“The best part [of making the yearbook] is capturing important events especially since it’s my senior year and my senior yearbook,” said Michael Parks, another Cathedral Prep senior. “It’s more than just another yearbook to me. It’s one thing I’ll always have of Prep no matter what.” 

A mentionable fact is that this will be the last Cathedral Prep yearbook with only boy students. Great things can be expected from the committee this year, and hopefully Cathedral Prep will see a yearbook that goes above and beyond expectations.
