Believe it or not, the second weekend of November football has already come and gone. Here is a recap of this past weekend’s action in the top-25 in college football.
#1 Alabama – 38
#13 LSU – 17
Recap: The score does not indicate just how close this game really was. The Tigers gave them a heck of a fight but ended up falling short to the powerhouse that is Alabama.
#2 Florida State – 59
Wake Forest – 3
Recap: Although Famous Jameis did not have a Heisman-caliber game, the Seminole defense did what they needed to do by causing 7 turnovers en route to this 56-point victory.
#5 Stanford – 26
#3 Oregon – 20
Recap: Stanford may have exposed Oregon’s one true weakness: they can’t handle tough, physical football teams. Although Oregon made a late comeback to make this a game, Stanford controlled the majority of the game.
#6 Baylor – 41
#10 Oklahoma – 12
Recap: Baylor’s record setting offense overcame a slow start to completely pummel the Sooners while also making themselves a true contender for the BCS national championship.
#8 Missouri – 48
Kentucky – 17
Recap: No upset here as the Tigers handled their business in Lexington behind Dorial Green-Beckham’s 4 TD grabs.
#9 Auburn – 55
Tennessee – 23
Recap: Auburn manhandled the Vols in Knoxville while only throwing the ball seven times. Auburn QB Nick Marshall led the Tiger rushing attack with 220 yards.
Virginia Tech – 42
#10 Miami – 24
Recap: A week after getting soundly defeated by Florida State, Miami played their sloppiest and worst game of the season in this upset special.
#14 Oklahoma State – 42
Kansas – 6
Recap: Oklahoma State had no problem this weekend with the depleted Jayhawks as they rolled to a very easy 36-point win.
#15 Texas A&M – 51
Mississippi State – 41
Recap: Johnny Manziel might have put himself in prime Heisman contention with this 500-yard, 5 TD game as the Aggies held on to win another game and boost their resume as BCS Bowl contenders.
#16 Fresno State – 48
Wyoming – 10
Recap: The Bulldogs rolled Wyoming in a conference game with really no importance. Derek Carr looked good though.
#19 UCLA – 31
Arizona – 26
Recap: UCLA picked up the rare road win over the Wildcats thanks in large part to their defensive stand at the end of the game.
#21 UCF – 19
Houston – 14
Recap: Blake Bortles led his Golden Knight squad in this slugfest between American Athletic Conference conference members.
#22 Arizona State – 20
Utah – 19
Recap: Taylor Kelly led the Sun Devil squad on a late rally to avoid the upset against a very tough Utah squad.
Pittsburgh – 28
#23 Notre Dame – 21
Recap: James Conner’s 2-yard TD late in the fourth quarter capped a fantastic rally by Pittsburgh and crushed any noise the Irish made in the BCS Bowl discussion.
#24 Wisconsin – 27
BYU – 17
Recap: James White led the Badgers in a impressive home win over the Cougars. White led the Badgers with 3 TD runs.
Kansas State – 49
#25 Texas Tech – 26
Recap: Kansas State pulled off the improbable rout of the Red Raiders who will inevitably fall out of the rankings with yet another lopsided loss.
