Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat announced
February 15, 2023
On April 27, Cathedral Prep theater will be presenting the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the H. David Bowes auditorium. In addition, Cathedral Prep will be inviting fourth through eighth grade students to participate in a children’s chorus.
Prep is looking for any male or female students with strong singing voices and an interest in theater. Prep also strongly encourages these students to stay focused during rehearsals. These rehearsals will be taking place once a week after school and, during these rehearsals, the students will be working with Director Rev. Michael DeMartinis, and music teachers Mr. Alesso and Mr. Rose.
Director Father DeMartinis is very excited about the addition of the children’s chorus. The show traditionally has a children’s chorus and Father Mike feels it is almost a necessity for this show in particular.
“It’s written right into the script and music,” Father Mike said. “If there is no children’s chorus then their parts are taken by the adult or high school ensemble, but not this time.”
Senior Anthony Frisina is equally as excited as Father Mike about both the children’s choir and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as a whole. Anthony has the honor of playing the main character, Joseph, and he is definitely most excited for the music.
“Once everything is put together the audience won’t be able to not dance,” Anthony said. “The music is contagious and the children’s choir will just add to that special feeling.”
If parents or students are interested in joining the children’s chorus or Prep theater in general, they can contact the Cathedral Prep Enrollment Management office by phone at (814)-453-7737 or by email at [email protected] and [email protected].
