The Cathedral Prep theater department plans to perform their spring musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The musical began auditions in early April for two days to get a compete cast.

Among the students who auditioned was Senior Emily Morphy who landed a role as a narrator.

“It is an honor to be involved in another school production and a great way to end the school year,” Emily said.

The lead role of the musical is Joseph, the main character who overcomes hardship and finds the opportunity to give back. It is based on the biblical account of how Joseph wins over the pharaoh’s trust overtime. Joseph will be played by senior Anthony Frisina, a seasoned actor with a passion for performing.

“I was in Mamma Mia, Les Miserables, Newsies, and Curtains all at Prep when I was in 7th and 8th grade,” Anthony said. “My friend told me that the music in the show was really good and made me listen to it. So I loved the music and decided to audition. I went for the role of Joseph but wasn’t expecting to get a lead at all.”

As for the performance he says, “I hope the audience has a fun time and enjoys the show because the cast and crew has certainly had a fun time putting it together.”

The musical and final school production of the year will be performed at the H. David Bowes Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on April 27-29 with a 2 p.m. showing on Sunday, April 30.
