With seniors entering their final days of school, this week the staff asked, “What is your favorite memory from the school year?” Read the staff members’ answers and explanations below.

My favorite memory from this school year wasn’t one single thing. There was too much that happened to be summed up in one memorable event. Sure, there were plenty of fun events that happened all throughout this year, but I think my favorite part of it all were the little things that made this year unique. The parts are greater than their whole. I really just enjoyed hanging out with my friends this year, whether that was eating lunch, doing work together, or anything else. Although, if I had to name one single thing, I did thoroughly enjoy tormenting the Journalism Staff with riddles. Perhaps I will post a few as part of an article. Parts of this year were definitely tough, but I rode out the storm with some help from my comrades-at-arms. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to you all for making this last year a great one.

My favorite memory from this school year has to be when I finally learned how to use the laser printer. The laser printer is most definitely my favorite addition to the school, and it can perform almost any task you assign to it. It can, of course, be used to cut things, but I learned how to use it for more artistic purposes. For example, my sketchbook. With it, I was able to etch a design I drew into the cover of it, creating what would normally be a very expensive item.

My favorite memory of this year is probably when I went to John Carroll in February and realized that it was where I wanted to go. I had such a great experience with everyone there, and it was such a relieving feeling. I also really enjoyed the semiformal the teachers put on. Everything was decorated perfectly, and the group of people there was really relaxed. It was definitely a highlight.

My favorite memory of the year is doing the multimedia coordinator videos. We asked many different questions and talked to many different people and it was very interesting. I thought this class was a very fun and easy way to keep me involved throughout the school. It kept me updated on news, and it forced me to get to know students and teachers on a better note. I thought this was one of the highlights of my year for sure.

My favorite memory of this school year was the time my best friend Ellen Margaret Dieteman and I met Fr. Jason Feigh’s dog named Linus. I met him while doing Box Village, a charity event on the school lawn. Linus is very strong, but I still enjoyed taking him on laps around the school. He’s still a puppy and is very energetic, which livened the mood on that cold day. It was definitely a highlight of my senior year.
My favorite memory of this year would have had to been when we were finally able to beat McDowell in football. For the past few years, we had been struggling against McDowell and it was hard for us to get a win against them. They had the size advantage against us in all four years, and up until this year, were able to run all over us, and we had no answer. But seeing us smack them 41-0, it was really a great experience to watch because it was something I finally got to see happen. Watching that game will always have a special place in my heart.

My favorite memory from this school year is the playoff run with my soccer team. We have been playing together since we were in grade school and having a group that close was amazing. While we came up short the ride to get there was amazing, even beating the best team in Pittsburgh 3-0. All the memories from that game and the prior game will be with me forever. It was such an unbelievable experience and for that reason it is my favorite memory from this year.

My favorite memory from this school year has probably been the Prep vs. McDowell football game. For any Prep student that is a really fun day. From the start of school early in the morning leading all the way up to kickoff later that Friday night. The game is so much from because of the rivalry and it feels like everyone is all together. It also helps that Prep beat McDowell 41-0.

My favorite memory from this year would have to be all the people I have met. I didn’t have great hopes with the merger, but I think everything turned out good. I met people that impacted my life in ways they probably wouldn’t ever realize. But people who made me become a better person and help me with many things. I’m grateful for the people I met and the experience I got.

This year has been full of fantastic memories. I have had a lot of fun in this class. I genuinely enjoyed writing a lot of my articles. Honestly though, my favorite part was probably the new friends I made. I had a bunch of inside jokes running with Alicia and Ellen that were really fun. I got to make fun of Scarpino, which is always fun—all jokes though. Getting to know everyone was the best part for sure.

My favorite memory of this year is getting to meet so many new people. I was really worried about what would happen going into this school year, but I am really happy with how it turned out in the end. I met so many amazing people. I am so grateful for all of the friendships I made this year. I wouldn’t trade any of those for the world.
