Cathedral Prep hosted its first quarter sessions of the year, celebrating the achievements of students in the first quarter of the academic year. The ceremony highlighted the academic successes of each class and honored individual students for their dedication and commitment to the school’s values.
The main event for quarter sessions was rewarding students with first and second honors for the quarter. Students who earn all A’s receive first honors, and students who earn all A’s and B’s receive second honors. The freshman class led all classes with 64 percent of freshman students making the honor roll. They were the winners of this quarter session.
The prestigious Man of Prep and Woman of Prep awards were also given out. These awards are given to students who display outstanding character and leadership, embodying the values of Cathedral Prep.
Santino Washburn was named freshman Man of Prep for the first quarter.
“Getting the Man of Prep award, I felt very excited and surprised,” Santino said. “I had no idea that I was in the running to win. It was a great moment, and I’m grateful for the award.”
The winner of the Woman of Prep for the senior class, Julia Dieteman, reacted similarly.
“Being awarded something like the Woman of Prep was a great honor,” Julia said. “I’m incredibly grateful to have been chosen. It was a complete surprise”
To conclude the event, Cathedral Prep welcomed Nancy Neumaier Bird, a graduate from the Class of 1984, who gave an inspiring speech. She shared insights from her years at the school and encouraged current students to continue their hard work at Prep and to continue embracing the values of Prep. Her speech closes the quarter sessions ceremony with a reminder of what it means to be part of the Cathedral Prep community.
Cathedral Prep President Kevin Smith wrapped up the ceremony by congratulating all students on a great and successful first quarter, encouraging them to maintain their efforts in the months ahead.
