Six feet of snow. That is what us residents in Erie had to deal with this week. Six feet of snow. Although the snowy surprise was fun at first, it also had its downsides.
While the snow was a wonderful sight, letting us make snowmen and slide down the hills in Frontier Park, it also caused a lot of shoveling for me and my family. There were just mounds of shoveled snow everywhere you looked, and even then, there was so much that two lane roads were turned into one!
The number of cars that I was seeing hidden and stuck in the snow was in the double digits. Most of the people getting around were on foot. There was even someone my dad was telling me about who he saw driving around in a snowmobile. Talk about dedication.
“I was in one snowstorm that had me without power for two days,” my dad Jason said. “I was having to chop wood outside and bring it in the house to burn.”
Along with the amount of snow came the cancellation of school on Monday, Dec. 2. I was definitely not bothered by that news, but some teachers were not as happy about it.
“I had all these school plans prepared,” my stepmom Tasha said. “But now I have to adjust it all because of all the school that’s being cancelled.”
Although the snowstorm caused many inconveniences for many people, myself included, I think it also had a lot of positives. With everyone staying inside, I’m sure some board games with the family were played, and spending time with family is a thing many people can otherwise forget to do.
