The Cathedral Prep community lost one of the best theology teachers ever when Mr. Antonio Fransico Del Rio passed away last school year, which meant that Prep was in need of a new theology teacher. They found him in Mr. Jason Ladouceur. He is officially the new junior theology teacher for the 2014-15 school year. He is a great teacher, and many students may recognize him since he began as a substitute at Prep last year. He earned the nickname “Wolverine” because a lot of students said he looks like the Marvel character.
As a student in his theology class right now, I can say that have learned a lot already. He has fit right in as if he has been teaching here for years. He also joined the staff as a football coach at Prep this year. He coaches the junior varsity wide receivers and cornerbacks. He is also the special teams coach on varsity. He is very intense on the football field.
When asked how he likes Prep so far, Mr. Ladouceur said, “So far, I couldn’t be happier with my experience here at Cathedral Prep. The students demonstrate a thirst for knowledge and excellence both in the classroom and on the athletic field. The faculty and staff staff thus far has been nothing but supportive and kindhearted. They have exhibited a passion for educating young men that I hope to emulate during my time here.”
Before he was hired for his first full-time teaching position here at Prep, Mr. Ladouceur completed his student teaching at East High School while attending Gannon University. While at Gannon he received a BA in secondary education in the content area of social studies and played wide receiver for their football team. He is currently six credits away from receiving his master’s degree from Gannon in curriculum instruction and assessment.
When asked why he applied for the position, he said, “I have a strong desire to teach and feel that through the use of my faith I can provide students with a positive outlook on life and a set of worthy moral values.” As for how long he plans to work at Cathedral Prep? Mr. Ladouceur said, “I’m in it for the long haul boys….Roll Ramblers!”
