Cathedral Prep Bowling Club is back in action and off to a great start for the second year in a row. Every other Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. there will be unlimited bowling for two hours at Greengarden Lanes for the price of $10. This year, the increase of students attending bowling has almost doubled from the previous years.
Taking charge in organizing the bowling club are seniors Shaine Pletz and Jack Hllbrich along with faculty advisor Mr. Fleming.
Bowling is a target sport and recreational activity in which a player rolls or throws a bowling ball toward pins. What makes bowling great is that just about anyone can do it. You do not have to be a professional bowler to bowl.
The bowling club is open for all Cathedral Prep students who are looking to have fun, enhance their bowling skills and, of course, knock down as many pins down as possible.
The bowling alley is also a place where students can socialize, meet new people, and make new friends. Last year’s bowling club played at Rolling Meadow Lanes. This year the first meeting was held at Greengarden Lanes, which is a closer location to Prep.
Bowling relieves stress, allowing students to engage in physical activity and be in a relaxed environment. Bowling thus promotes a healthy heart. When you get your blood flowing and your heart rate up it helps in promoting good, healthy and strong heart muscles.
During bowling I got a chance to talk to some of the students to hear what they had to say about the club. Prep senior Ryan Rzepecki said he is glad to join the bowling club and encourage more students to come out and participate.
