Mr. Pituch named Vice-President of Academics and Student Affairs

September 11, 2018

Last school year, it was announced there would be drastic changes to administration at both Prep and Villa. These changes included the creation of a brand new position at both campuses, known formally as  Vice-President of Academics and Student Affairs There was contention for the job position, but eventually Mr. William Pituch, who had been serving as a teacher and Social Studies Department Chair at Prep, was hired to fill the new position for the 2018-2019 school year.

“I heard that I got the job at the end of June,” said Mr. Pituch.

The responsibilities that come with being a Vice President of Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria Academy are quite large. Mr. Pituch is responsible for overseeing virtually everything regarding the two campuses, ranging from academic programs to student handbook policy and faculty management.

The purpose of creating this position was to address and reform the lack of unity between Prep and Villa.

“The primary goal for this upcoming school year is to start bringing a little more uniformity and consistency between the two campuses, [which is] one of my primary objectives set forward by Father Jabo is to start bringing more consistency, especially in the way of academic programs as well as policies and procedures between the two campuses.”

Obviously, Mr. Pituch is tasked with much broader objectives with his new position compared to when he was a teacher. However, he doesn’t consider these challenges to be more or less difficult.

“I wouldn’t say [the challenges] are greater or lesser, I just think they’re different,” Pituch continued, “Obviously with being in a classroom… dealing with students day in and day out, there’s plenty of challenges that go with that. The challenges I face now are different. I’m dealing more with teachers, parents, [and] guidance counselors.”

While the transition from teacher to administrator has it’s bumps and complications, it actually is a refreshing change for Mr. Pituch.

“Every day is different, which sometimes is a challenge, but other days it can be kind of invigorating,” Pituch said, “[I was there for] Villa’s first all school mass and then Prep with their senior retreat. That was kind of fun. I’m not in the same place every day.”

With Mr. Pituch as the new head administrator below Father Jabo, the school is set up to differently than last year. What that means long term will be determined in time. For now, there is a hopeful, positive attitude to begin the year.
