Students+acknowledged+at+2nd+Quarter+Sessions

The Quarter Sessions for the second quarter took place on Wednesday, Feb. 7. The students at Cathedral Prep were very excited to hear guest speaker Dr. Jay Deimel (’00) and to have an early dismissal. The Quarter Sessions started by everyone joining in a prayer. Then the color guard presented the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance. Then each class had their class advisors come onto the stage to announce the first and second honors students by grade. The students who made honor roll were presented with a certificate, and the students who had the highest GPA in their respective class were rewarded with a pennant.
Junior Jordan Covatto, who received a second honors certificate, said, “It felt good to be acknowledged for my hard work this quarter.”
The Man of Prep Award was also presented to a student from each grade for representing what a man of Prep should be. The winners were senior Taiwan Bowden, junior Nathan Lutz, sophomore Andrew Czarnecki, and freshman Joseph Armanini.
Dr. Deimel came up to the podium to reminisce about his time at Prep and talked about how students need take advantage of the time they have at Prep. Deimel attended the University of Notre Dame for college and is now an orthopedic surgeon. He also shared with the school about how he worked for the San Francisco 49ers for a period of time and traveled with them to all their home and away games. Deimel spoke about going to Mr. Daeschner’s German class and going to the cafeteria to eat two lunches in 18 minutes. After Deimel finished his speech, master of ceremonies John Hagerty presented him with a zip-up CP jacket on behalf of Cathedral Prep.
The second quarter sessions then concluded with the tradition of the student body joining together in singing the school song, “Loyal and True.”
