Miles for Missions 5k

Luke Costello, Multimedia Coordinator

Cathedral Prep’s Outreach Club holds many events throughout the year as fundraisers that go to special causes. One of the biggest events held is the Miles for Missions 5k. On Saturday, April 22, friends and family will run the 5k through Frontier Park to support this cause. Runners will do two loops around the park with prizes awarded to the top finishers.

All money raised this year goes to USCRI of Erie, which assists refugees in the area and also to the Make a Wish Foundation to bring some joy to children undergoing medical treatment. Giving is one of the most important things you can do in this life as many say. As one of the components of this school, service, is a huge aspect in life. To serve the lord, serve others, and loved ones as well. Without service, our world wouldn’t function.

Not only is there the race that goes on during the event, but there is also a basket raffle that happens to help raise money and to help bring in spectators for the event. There will be many fun prizes for all ages, for example a Prep themed basket, and sponsored baskets from many different companies.

The event relies on not only the participants, but also a lot of volunteers to make the morning successful.

This is a time for our Cathedral Prep family to come together as one to provide for many people in need. USCRI of Erie and Make a Wish Foundation are teaming up with us because of the reputation of excellence we provide to the city. People need love, and we need to provide it.
