Josie Dufala is making her mark on The Rambler. The senior staff writer joined Mr. Huber’s journalism class this school year, and has already made clear to her readers her great talent for writing and storytelling.
Josie has always enjoyed writing and English throughout her high school career. Last year, she took creative writing as an elective, which made a huge impact on her decision to take Journalism. “Taking that class helped me realize that I really enjoy writing,” Josie said. “From that point on, I knew I wanted to improve and start writing even more.”
So far, Josie’s favorite article she has written for The Rambler is called “Senior Sunrise: A Dawn to Remember.” She loves this piece because it features many of her classmates and friends, and it is about an event that she both attended and enjoyed.
“I had a lot of fun getting quotes for this article in particular,” Josie said. “There were so many people I talked to that all had things to say, and it was a blast piecing it all together.”
Many of Josie’s closest friends have already enjoyed her writing. “I have read some of Josie’s articles so far,” said senior Ellie Brugger, “and I have loved hearing what she has to say about our school. I am excited to read all of her work throughout the year, and I am proud of her accomplishments in her writing career.”
Through her time spent in Journalism, Josie hopes to gain a deeper understanding of writing, improve on her skills, and make a positive impression on her school community.
“I hope to write articles that are both interesting and inspiring,” Josie said. “I am honored to get to tell the stories of students and alumni in our community, and my goal is to boost others up by what I write.”
In the future, Josie hopes to carry with her the writing tactics she has gained from writing for The Rambler. “I am learning that the most important aspect of journalism is to write what your passionate about,” she said. “I now know how to avoid bias and give the facts, while still adding my own unique style to the article. It’s been a ton of fun.”
