With Halloween in the rearview mirror, the calendar has flipped to November. For some, that means preparing for Thanksgiving. Others are already onto Christmas in their minds. This week our staff answered the question: When does the Christmas season begin for you?

In my opinion, Christmas officially begins immediately after Thanksgiving Day. Pulling off the Halloween decorations and setting up the reindeer and tree outside is a bit too much. You gotta have a dead period before you try setting up anything. My family likes to put up our tree around Thanksgiving, and it’s kind of tradition now. It’s like the official transition into the best holiday ever.

I feel that the Christmas season truly begins when we have our Thanksgiving break from school. Once we get that initial excitement for the holiday season, I start watching Christmas movies, listening to Christmas music, and baking Christmas cookies the day we get out of school. After the Thanksgiving holiday is over, I decorate my room and help my mom decorate the house. As late November and early December approach, the weather is wintry and cold each day, and I feel that it finally feels like Christmastime. From this point on, the season is in full swing.

When does the Christmas season start? I think the season of Christmas starts when Thanksgiving is over. Thanksgiving is still a holiday that is celebrated by many. You can start your holiday cheer by listening to Christmas music and shopping for the Christmas season. Christmas is a holiday that is celebrated everywhere, but the holiday doesn’t start till Thanksgiving is over in my opinion.

For me, the Christmas season starts on Black Friday. I don’t like starting Christmas time on November 1st. I feel like some people are in a rush to get rid of the fall season and move right into winter. But I love fall, so if I have a couple extra weeks to celebrate until Thanksgiving, I’ll take it. Once thanksgiving is over, I’m ready to get into the Christmas spirit.

The Christmas season I believe begins November 1. It’s a preparation period for the coming of Jesus. Our souls should be more than ready when December 25th rolls around. To prepare our souls for the birth of Jesus we must start as early as we can. Christmas music always starts as soon as the radio stations can such as Classy 100 and other stations. Listening to Christmas music always brings my soul happiness and helps me interlock with God and the birth of Jesus. I’m very excited for this next upcoming Christmas season due to all the festive activities that are quickly approaching. Christmas is most certainly my favorite holiday.

In my opinion, the Christmas season starts the day after Thanksgiving or when it snows for the first time. I only really care about waiting until after Thanksgiving to listen to Christmas music if there is not any snow. I understand why people get annoyed with others who start putting up Christmas decorations the week before Halloween. I enjoy Christmas, but we also need to appreciate the holidays that come before it. With that being said, I am definitely going to listen to Christmas music on the way home today because there is snow on the ground.
