As we get closer to Christmas break, Prep’s Gannon scholars are gearing up for finals week for the fall semester. Between Monday, Dec. 11, and Friday, Dec. 15, these students will be turning in their final exams, essays, and/or projects. This week brings out a lot of emotions, such as nervousness, excitement, and even some sadness.
“I feel pretty excited and stressed,” said senior Ethan Seifert. “I’m excited for our Christmas break, but I am also stressed out because I’ve been busy juggling school, work, and my personal life, which has been stressful.”
While also looking forward to the end, senior Olivia Kallner shares her sadness about the semester ending.
“I am very excited about finishing the fall semester as it will help lighten my workload leading up to Christmas,” Olivia said. “But it is also bittersweet finishing this semester, as I really enjoyed my fall semester classes, classmates, and professors.”
Senior Sammie Elwell shared a similar sentiment shared a similar sentiment to Seifert, being excited to end the fall semester.
“I can’t wait to relax as the Christmas season approaches,” Sammie said, “especially now that I won’t have to walk in the cold every day.”
Sammie, a first-year Gannon scholar, is taking her time preparing diligently for her finals.
“I am studying my old material and going over homework little by little every day,” Sammie said. “Instead of cramming it all the night before the final, I am doing it slowly every day.”
Olivia and Ethan are second year Gannon scholars, meaning they have an additional class to prepare for. Like Sammie, Olivia is preparing by working little by little every day.
“I am preparing for my final exams and essays by putting aside time in my day dedicated to studying for my exams and working in my final essays,” Olivia said. “Usually this is about two hours after school.”
Ethan is preparing himself by reviewing old material, but also through self-care.
“I’m preparing for my finals by making sure I am well-rested,” Ethan said, “practicing good study habits through study guides and looking over notes and creating a stress-free environment for myself.”
