Caitlyn Holden is a junior editor for The Rambler who is also involved in Prep’s women’s lacrosse team. She shows her versatility as she plays offense and defense for her team. Caitlyn emphasizes the importance of trust in teammates, especially in the sport of lacrosse.
“Lacrosse is such a team sport,” Caitlyn said. “If you can’t trust your teammates then you will get nowhere.”
Between juggling rigorous academic studies and being a committed athlete, time management can get difficult.
“I’ve always valued my academics, and I recognize that school life comes first,” Caitlyn said. “Finding the time to do schoolwork was definitely a lot to handle at first. I found that utilizing study halls and lunch periods can be an effective way to save time. It’s important to just slow down and think about what you’re doing so that you can improve your performance and time management.”
There are many physical and mental challenges that come with the sport of lacrosse. Confidence is important in order to overcome these challenges and grow as a person and player.
“Lacrosse balls are heavy and very hard, so when people first start to play this sport, they are often scared of the ball,” Caitlyn added. “Through confidence and trust, you can overcome this nervous feeling and start to perform your best.”
At Prep, women’s lacrosse is a growing sport that is welcoming to anyone no matter their experience. As a junior on the team this season, Caitlyn will be looked to for advice and guidance on and off the field.
“Don’t be scared to join even if you have never played before,” Caitlyn advised. “You will get used to the physical aspects of the sport as the season goes on. The coaches will always put the time in to help you learn and improve.”
Caitlyn is a dedicated member of the junior class here at Prep. Through her hard work in journalism and the women’s lacrosse team, she continues to excel as a student athlete.
