As the calendar turns to November, students start thinking about the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, which led to this week’s question: what is your favorite holiday?

My favorite holiday has to be Christmas because I get to see my whole family, make cookies, and get a long break off from school. During Christmastime, my entire family comes in to town. This includes my cousin, Charlie, who lives in North Carolina, and is like an older brother to me. I love seeing him and the rest of my family who comes in from other states and from serving in the military to celebrate together. I also love shopping for everyone and thinking of creative gift ideas. (My bank account doesn’t love it as much, however.) I also love making Christmas cookies with my grandma. My favorite is the Hershey kiss cookie because I love anything chocolate. Lastly, I also love Christmas break because of the long time off from school. I get to sleep in and relax all day. Christmas is the best holiday, and I am so excited for it this year, just not the snow that comes with it.

4th of July has always been my personal favorite holiday. I’ve always loved getting together with family and everyone just hanging out by the fire or swimming in the pool. It’s also always fun to have a big dinner with burgers and steaks on the grill, especially when your dad is a great cook. And then ending the night off with a bunch of bright and colorful fireworks has always been an awesome thing to experience. Even though pets aren’t always a big fan, 4th of July is such a timeless holiday. You’re never to old to shoot some fireworks and hangout with the people you care about.
