This week is all about music, as the staff wrote about their favorite album.

My favorite album is Mayhem by Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga blends multiple genres like pop, techno, and rock to create beautiful masterpieces. Not only does she blend multiple genres, but she also mixes some of her own experiences into her music. Her music resonates with me in ways that I have never felt before. If I had to describe Lady Gaga and her music in three words, I would say brilliant, innovative, and iconic.
Isabella Bellotti
I’m Not Dead by P!nk is my favorite album. The “I don’t care attitude” P!nk exhibits throughout the album personally resonates with me in the fact that it helps me to remember that living life by my own rules matters more than the opinions of others. The courage she has to address ignorance and other issues in her songs is something I am inspired by every time I listen to a few of the songs. The songs remind me to question things when something seems off and to not mindlessly follow something just because it is popular or widely accepted.

My favorite album of all time has to be Shakedown Street by Grateful Dead. The reason that this is my favorite album is because it has a few of my favorite songs of all time, “Shakedown Street” and “Fire on the Mountain.” I haven’t listened to the full album more than like two times, but I really enjoy the upbeat aspects of it and how funky it is.
Nicholas Hoke
My favorite album is 2014 Forest Hills Drive by J Cole. I believe this is one of his best works. He is a lyrical genius, and his music doesn’t just entertain, it tell stories and creates images like poetry. My favorite song on the album is “Love Yourz.” It tells you that there is no life better than yours, no matter your struggle. My favorite lyric is “What’s money without happiness, or hard times without the people you love?” This speaks volumes to me because it emphasizes money isn’t everything, but family and friends are.
Grasyn Peterson
I would say my favorite album is Faces by Mac Miller. Mac Miller is my favorite artist, and I think his best songs are on this album. I pretty much like 95 percent of the songs on the album. One of them is also called “Happy Birthday,” so I always play that one on my birthday. But I think most people who listen to Mac Miller agree that out of his albums this one is top three.

My all time favorite musical album is probably The Sound of Music. I have loved both the play and movie since I was very young and have seen both multiple times. I have also read the memoir of Maria von Trapp, which is a fantastic read. I think the musical numbers are brilliant and the story it tells beautifully weaves in the themes of patriotism, love, sacrifice, and discernment through faith.
