Annual all school Mass takes place at the CPEC

All School Mass wideWhat better way to kick off the school year than a joint school mass held at the Cathedral Prep Event Center. The students were brought together to express their faith, bringing together Prep and Villa to start to the 2014-2015 school year!

This past Wednesday, Sept. 10, Cathedral Prep students pilgrimaged to the CPEC by foot to join their sisters of Villa who arrived via buses in order to celebrate the holy Mass. Each school filled the bleachers according to grade and the make-shift altar was placed on the track at the 50 yard line. Father Jabo, Father McCormick, and Father Jason (Feigh) all led us in the church service with additional help from the students as readers and Eucharistic ministers.

After Mass, the students were served lunches from the Rambler Cafe inside of the CPEC and then proceeded to gather out on the field to eat. The $5 brown paper bagged meals, included small 5″ ham and American cheese only subs, a pack of Gushers, a cookie, a small water bottle, and a bag of Doritos chips.

All in all, the event went relatively smoothly. Though a few trains interrupted the service and a microphone problem or two caused Fr. Jabo, or whoever was speaking at the time, to be briefly inaudible, the students of Prep and Villa were able to celebrate this ceremony without a hitch. While typically this Mass reaches some of the highest levels of uncomfortable that could possibly be experienced due to the intensity of the sun and the sweat it causes, a gentle breeze saved the students from this situation this year. The annual all schools Mass was a success and set in motion a great start to the 2014-2015 school year.
