As a mature young man with big dreams, I have no shame asking the waitress at an upscale fancy restaurant if they serve chicken tenders. You simply cannot beat a plate of fresh, crispy chicken tenders. They can be dipped in a variety of sauces, tasting equally good doused in ketchup, ranch, or barbecue sauce.
With Metz coming in for its first year here, we amateur food critics at Prep were looking forward to trying its new recipes. As for chicken tenders, I believe we were served them two or three times before the batch served on Wednesday, Dec. 2. The chicken tenders served before Dec. 2 were honestly “finger lickin’ good.” As senior Tanner Ziacik put it, “The chicken tenders we were served before tasted like when you go to a football game and get a big ol’ basket of ten of those suckers and some fries.” In other words, they were good.
However, the chicken tenders served on Dec 2 were noticeably different from the ones previously served. Mr. Biebel had quite the experience, and decided to weigh in on the topic, “It was the saddest, most lame excuse for chicken I’ve seen in all my years living on this planet. It was pretty much the equivalent of eating deep fried paper I found in the sand on the beach,” he said. Strong words from a strong man.
Our new chef, Mr. James Wrigley, was apologetic on the matter. “First I would like to apologize for the quality of the chicken tender served on Dec 2. I would agree with you that the tenders were lesser quality than the tenders previously served. We will never order and serve that product again. We are still in search of a product that fits our needs at Prep.” The good news is that those tenders were an unfortunate hiccup and will not happen again.
The future of Prep chicken tenders looks bright. Mr.Wrigley plans on getting a group of students together to participate in a taste test of a few different types of chicken tenders, as was done earlier this year with the ranch dressing. This should ensure that the best quality chicken tenders will be served to Prep students in the future.
In the words of Elvis Presley, “Love Me Tender.”
