As the 2018-2019 school year is quickly coming to an end, the senior class is about to get extremely busy. The school year is flying by and graduation is rapidly approaching, but there is still a lot to happen before the year comes to a close.
When asked how he feels about his final weeks at Prep, senior Ryan Sweny stated, “I am excited to graduate and begin a new chapter of my life, but I am sad to say goodbye to my Prep brothers.”
The month of May is packed with activities for the senior class and is bound to fly by. To kick it off, Prep and Villa Senior Prom will be held on May 4 at Lakeshore Country Club. The theme for prom this year is “Around the World in One Night,” and the night is destined to be a memorable one, as senior class advisors and representatives have been working hard to make it perfect.
The first of many gatherings of just the class of 2019 is the Senior Breakfast on Wednesday, May 15. The senior breakfast is a Prep tradition, as it is one of the last times that the class will break bread together. After being well fed at the senior breakfast, the Ramblers then have Spirit, Mind, and Body day on Friday, May 17. The day is full many fun events that help to bring each class together and build upon the brotherhood. While most people think that the day is only about competing, it is about a lot more than that, as there is also an all school Mass. The class of 2019 is full of a bunch of studs and can certainly win their very last Spirit, Mind, and Body Day.
On Tuesday, May 21, the class of 2019 will be heading to Peek’n Peak Resort for their annual Senior Retreat. The class will be completing the ropes course as a class and enjoying the company of all of their classmates in one place for one of the last times ever.
The long lived tradition of Baccalaureate Mass will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29. This Mass is a very special thing for the seniors as they will ask an important Cathedral Prep alumni to pin them. It is sure to be an unforgettable memory for the seniors as they get to spend time with their families, classmates, teachers, and alumni from many different years.
The very last moments that the class of 2019 will spend together will be at graduation practice on May 31 at the HFEC and then graduation itself on Sunday, June 2. The Ramblers will be graduating in fashion as they walk across the stage at the Warner Theatre dressed in their classy white tuxedos. It has been a long four years for the class, and they can’t wait to receive their diplomas, but it will be a bittersweet moment, as the boys know they will never walk the halls with their Prep brothers ever again.
