Jordan Sauers is a senior at Cathedral Prep. His true love is for basketball. He has been a Rambler for his four years in high school. Jordan is a hard working student who maintains above a 3.0 GPA. He has some struggles in his classes, but that does not stop him from enjoying them. He loves all eight periods of the day and all eight teachers.
Jordan’s favorite part of Prep is the brotherhood because he has grown close with the students, teachers, and alums of the school. The relationships he has made at Prep will last him a lifetime, even with the people he has yet to meet. Being a senior at Prep has changed Jordan severely. He has become stronger and wiser during the four-year span.
He believes that he is a role model for his younger brothers, Brandon (16), Cameron (8), and Logan (7).
When I asked Jordan about his future I did not think he would have his future planned out, as most high school seniors don’t. Sauers, on the other hand, is planning on attending the University of Ohio, and majoring in nutrition. Jordan wants to get into this major because during his sophomore year he was diagnosed with Type I diabetes. He wants to make a difference not only for himself but anyone with diabetes. He knows the pains and struggles of having diabetes, which is why he plans on becoming a great nutritionist.
Jordan has been a four-year CYO player, who has not been to one but two state
championships, and this year he looks to make his third appearance. Last year the team had a down year because the league had great talent all around, but that did not stop Jordan. He was known as one of the top juniors of the season and averaged 15 points per game. This year Jordan is the predicted season MVP. He works out multiple times a week on his shot and his strength. He is a very dedicated player with a love of the game.
As far as the current season, Jordan believes that OLC/St. Jude is the best team with “The Best Backcourt in the League” (Tony Chirareli, Ryan Podaful, and himself). OLC has three big men for rebounding (Brian Dailey, Matt Wolf, and Nick Gorny). He also acknowledged the deep bench they have, which is a 12 man bench, and all the players have their own skill set. When I asked him who the greatest challenge will be this season, he said “Saint George because they have Sam Riley who can shoot, and Ryan Dill who is a force down low.”
Around Prep there has been trash talk going around from player to player, but two kids that stuck out talking about Jordan were Ryan Becker and Mark Fagley. I asked Jordan how he felt about Becker saying he is “overrated.” Jordan replied, “Becker is all talk. He will see it on the court.” When I asked about Mark Fagley, Jordan said, “He is lazy. He can’t play defense. He has a bum ankle. I will drop 50 points on Mark when we play OLP.” After hearing that I was a bit shocked, but if the preseason MVP believes he can, then he very well may do so.
