The Cathedral Prep football team will take on the McDowell Trojans on Friday night in an attempt to win this rivalry matchup at Gus Anderson Field. Even though the Ramblers do not have home field advantage, they are still very confident in the team’s ability to succeed in this sports contest. It will be a battle but one that the Prep football team is able to overcome.
“We are ready,” said Mike Lupo, who is a fullback and defensive end on the Prep football team. “We have something to prove this year. The outsiders like to think they have a chance against us, but I don’t think they know what this year’s team is about. I can’t wait to play in the atmosphere this Friday, as this is the last time I will be able to play against McWho.
Prep is going into this game with 4 wins and 2 losses with some very tough matchups preceding this game. McDowell is coming into this game with 6 wins and 0 losses against inferior talent. According to MaxPreps, Cathedral Prep’s football schedule strength is a 36 whereas McDowell’s is a 9.1. The Prep schedule has prepared them for this game instead of simply playing teams they can walk all over. After playing teams like Saint Ed’s and Benedictine, the Ramblers have seen a higher level of competition that leaves them more than ready for whatever the Trojans bring to the table.
There is no doubt that the Prep student body is ready to show up and support the team. “I would say hopefully we have the biggest student section of all the games so far,” said senior Nick Cacchione, member of the Rally Crew. “We plan on having a huge fan turnout to watch this extravagant sporting event and cheer the Ramblers on to victory.”
