Father Jabo set to move on after 21 years of service

In 1999, Father Scott Jabo took up a new role as Assistant Headmaster at Cathedral Preparatory School.

Only a year after that, Prep started a new chapter in its history by announcing Father Jabo as Headmaster. Little did Father Jabo know that in 20 years he would oversee not just Prep but also Villa Maria Academy and also becoming President of Mother Teresa Academy. On top of that, he has also helped set up the Cathedral Prep Events Center (currently known as the Hagerty Family Events Center), along with many achievements.

After 21 years of serving Prep, Villa, and Mother Teresa, Father Jabo and Bishop Persico both agreed that it was time for Father Jabo to be reassigned to a different role in the Diocese of Erie.

Father Jabo holds many fond memories of Prep, Villa, and Mother Teresa, but there is one part that sticks out among the others.

“Honestly, the best part about the job is the students,” said Father Jabo. “Whether it’s attending games, chatting to students in the hallways, checking in on classrooms, and different events, that’s the reason why I get up in the morning and enjoy coming in.”

“There are a lot of very great memories, a lot of achievements, whether that’s state championships, the ability to build an an athletic complex or an event center that was only a dream when I first started. The hard work and effort put into those is a testament to that,” Father Jabo added.

Father Jabo is still currently looking to see what the future assignment holds in store for him.

“I don’t know what it will be or where it will be at this point,” Father Jabo said. “All I know is that it will be in the Diocese of Erie, and it will most likely be parish work someplace. I’m excited to see what it is, but it is still a bittersweet moment.”
