Blessed Sacrament reigned victorious over Our Lady of Peace in a CYO showdown at Blessed Sacraments gym on Thursday. This game was a very close one throughout the whole game. Ending with a score 40-39, the Bulldogs grabbed their first win of the season.
Heading into the game, the Bulldogs had no game plan. Jack Malec had a stellar game ending with 25 points. It is safe to say that the Bulldogs all played hard and got Jack the open shots allowing him to make them.
“I know I showed up at the half, but I did not expect to see that score,” said senior Cam Schroeder. “Nobody expected us to come close, and I’m positive that nobody thought we would win.”
This game was a low scoring one to say the least, but there was a lot of action. One player from OLP fouled out to start the fourth quarter and that was interesting to see. Alec Sullivan also had a great performance putting up 8 points and a having a handful of rebounds to his name. Alec is only a sophomore, so great things are expected for him moving forward. For OLP, Mitch Ruff had a great game and kept his team in it.
This game had an outcome that was very unexpected, so therefore the tension was there the whole game. Everyone expected Blessed Sacrament to lose, so to see them win was pretty interesting and made for a fun game to watch.
