David Estes, most commonly known as “Dave”, is the Multimedia Coordinator here at The Rambler. Dave is one of the most well-known kids at Prep and has spent the last three years building his reputation. Now a senior, Dave has played both tennis and golf since freshman year. During his time at Prep, he says that the tennis season is what he looks forward to the most each year.
When asked about his most memorable matches on the court, Dave recalls his battles against Mount Lebanon, Peters Township, and of course Prep’s biggest rival, McDowell. Of course, one of his most applaudable accomplishments is his current running undefeated streak against that Millcreek school. Starting his competitive tennis career at the young age of six, Dave says that his strive for success and determination to win are what really pushes him to shine on the court. “The best part of this sport is the opportunity it opens to meeting new people all while getting good exercise and staying in shape,” he said. “I’m an extremely competitive person and tennis gives me the opportunity to have a competition to challenge me in something I’m just naturally talented at.”
On the court, Dave shows such a slick and confident style when hitting the ball toward his opponent that he almost makes it seem effortless. This year, Dave is expected to be one of the leading captains on the team to hopefully bring home yet another district title with the whole team and in the doubles competition. Though his schedule is jam-packed with practice and competitions, Dave still somehow finds the time to be successful in all of his classes and also write solid, in-depth articles for The Rambler.
