Cathedral Prep got a new English tutor this year. Mrs. Karen Kaye comes to Prep excited to help all the students with all of their English needs. Mrs. Kaye is no stranger to learning.

After graduating with her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Lake Erie College, she moved back home to Erie to study English and teaching English at Mercyhurst University. She graduated from Mercyhusrt University with a Masters in Science and teaching English.

This allowed her to become certified to teach English to 7-12th grade students. After a brief break from schooling, she was back in the classroom at Gannon University to become a reading specialist. She finished the program earning a Master of Education in reading.

When she got hired by the Intermediate Unit, she knew she could be placed at any school but was happy to be placed at Cathedral Prep. She always wanted to be able to help and guide high school students grow in their knowledge of English.

Regardless of the environment being an all boys school, she is still teaching, which is what she loves to do. Mrs. Kaye always strives to teach as best as she can, and she doesn’t let any obstacles stand in her way of doing this. On her free time, she enjoys playing with her dog and taking her for a walk. She enjoys spending time having picnics and playing corn hole with her family. She also loves going to her nephew’s baseball games and watching him try to hit that home run.
