Cathedral Prep hosts virtual Legacy Gala

Cathedral+Prep+hosts+virtual+Legacy+Gala

One of the signature events on the annual calendar at Prep and Villa is the Legacy Gala, which serves as the premier fundraising event for Prep, Villa, and Mother Teresa. It also highlights some of the alumni and donators that have been near essential in Prep’s funding, as well as adding those individuals into the school’s Hall of Fame as well. Everything had been planned for the 2020 edition of the event. Organizers had even hired an accompanying jazz band for the event before, sadly, it had all been canceled because of the current quarantine and epidemic.

Due to the currently present COVID-19 epidemic and subsequent quarantine, a Virtual Legacy Gala was decided to take place instead of a physical one. The event took place from March 27-29 and was quite successful. With over 500 participants, the Advancement Department was able to meet their financial goal and then some. While it was not the same as the annual in-person event, the virtual event worked given the circumstances.

There were some individuals who were recognized for their achievements and added into the Prep Hall of Fame. As reported in Prep’s official magazine, two distinguished alumni were honored from Cathedral Prep: Stephen S. Stack ‘52 and Don Felix ‘66. Additionally, alumna Therese Reiser Zamboldi ‘62 and distinguished board member Nancy Eichelsdorfer were honored from Villa Maria Academy.

While the Legacy Gala experienced some setbacks due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, the event still carried on, and was able to run its most important fundraiser, to help continue to support Prep, Villa, and Mother Teresa’s mission.
