Happy new year! To kick off our Question of the Week series for 2022, The Rambler staff reflected on our favorite memories from 2021. Read on and then share your favorite memory from 2021 in the comments.
My favorite memory of 2021 was probably our homecoming football game against Butler. It was really fun to experience the halftime presentation for the homecoming court, which I was on, but I was way more invested in playing that night. Because of injuries to other players on our team, I had a chance to get in the game and made the most of it. It was probably the best game I ever played. I had multiple key blocks in the game, and we won big that night. It was a performance that I look back on, and I’m really surprised of how well I played. Just surreal.
To be completely honest, 2021 was full of very good memories for me, and so it is difficult to pick just one. Because of that, I would say that the summer as a whole is my favorite memory of 2021. I got to do so many amazing things. I went to the beach to watch the sunset and talked with my amazing friend for hours. I saw great movies. I went to Atlanta and saw my family. I swam in the ocean. I read so many amazing books, and my house got an new porch, which I spent hours reading and relaxing on. The weather was amazing, and I loved spending time at my uncle’s pool as well. I got my driver’s license in April, and so I finally spent a summer going where I wanted when I wanted. It was perfect.
2021 was a pretty good and fast year all around for me. Compared to 2020, 2021 was a year where we started to see change and reform in the world as we recover from COVID. 2021 was filled with a lot of really good moments with friends, family, and within school. I’d say that my favorite moment/moments were the ones I shared with friends. In those times I was able to bond and really have a great time with them all. Other moments would be, obviously, with my family and at school with the rally and going to the games and being in the student section is always a great time.
My favorite memory from 2021 was when I got to go to the first show at Basement Transmissions since the pandemic. I was worried that the business would go under due to the lack of funding. Thankfully, live music is back. I got to mosh and stuff, which was so rad. I missed the culture of Pennsylvania hardcore.
I don’t really have a specific favorite memory of 2021, but overall, my summer was the absolute best part of the year for me. I gained back a lot of old friends and met many new ones. I used to play softball all the time, and I never was able to experience a summer of complete freedom until this past summer. I recently stopped playing softball, and it honestly gave me so much time to learn who I was and figure out what I wanted to do with my life. It gave me the ability to make friends and become closer with people every day of the summer. I am so grateful for this summer.
My 2021 was probably a lot like yours…crazy. In a year where COVID is still around, we started getting back to normal and then it showed up again. Stores and venues finally opened back up to full capacity. But of all the good times I had in 2021 going to Orlando, Florida, topped all of them. Down in Florida I went to Disney World, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Epcot and even got a full tour of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers stadium. This was a really cool experience for me and one that I would do again 100 times out of 100.
My favorite memory from 2021 was being able to win the district championship for a fourth time. The soccer team has won the championship consecutively for a little while now. I’m glad that my senior year I was able to continue the streak and make it four out of four wins. I just remember the joy between my teammates. All of the seniors I’ve gotten to play with were so excited because they knew it was going to be the last one of those they’d ever play. We didn’t take that moment for granted.
My favorite moment of 2021 was definitely going to states with the basketball team last year in the beginning of 2021. This was one of the best times of my life being with my friends at a hotel for the night hanging out and having fun after the basketball team won states. It will forever be a memory I will never forget.
