The Cathedral Prep lacrosse team is off to a great start this season. They opened up against the Fairview Tigers last Thursday at Fairview and took home the win 8-6. It was a hard fought game in adverse weather conditions, but the Ramblers came out on top. Kevin Bogniak had two goals while Brian Dailey, Ryan Bleggi, Jon Fiske, and Dee Baumann contributed goals as well. The JV team also came out with a win against Fairview.
This past Sunday the Cathedral Prep traveled to West Virginia to take on Wheeling Central Catholic. It was perfect weather for a lacrosse game, and the Ramblers took advantage of it, winning 11-8. The dynamic duo of Brian Dailey and Ryan Bleggi contributed eight total goals while Tony Chiarelli had two and Blaise Konzel had one. The defense was stout, killing off multiple penalties including a three-minute man down penalty kill towards the end of regulation. Hunter Emerson has been great in goal with a 60 percent save percentage and 21 saves on the year so far. The JV team went on to beat Wheeling as well by a score of 9-1.
The 2-0 Ramblers have a busy week ahead, as they plan to take on Lake Catholic on Thursday, Trinity on Saturday, and Bloomsberg on Sunday. Get out and support the boys this week!
