Prep Lacrosse Preview

After getting their season cancelled last year three days before their first game, the Prep lacrosse team has some unfinished business from two years ago when they lost the District 10 finals after many years of dominance. The team has had a lot of time to increase skill, build depth, and get more classmates involved.

“Being back on the field is a real blessing,” said senior Justin Corsale. “We had a tough break last year with our season being cancelled just days before our first game. Now that we’re back we’ve been working harder than ever before, and all the guys are super pumped to be able to play again and show everyone what we’re all about.”

The team is led by captains Justin Corsale, Jonathan Zambroski, and Ryan McKinsey. There will be more captains, but they will be named in the future.

The three starting sophomores from two years ago are still frontrunners for the starting attack position. Austin Faulkner, Dominic Peterson, and Jonathan Zambroski, who combined for 33 goals and 11 assists two years ago, are looking to build off of that. There are also some other kids fighting for that spot like Eric Hindman, Jake Lewicki, Jake Conrad, and Charles Agresti.

The midfield position is led by Justin Corsale, who missed the whole season two years ago with a leg injury, and he will also be playing attack from time to time. The others are the kids who aren’t starting attack and also kids like Connor Ginn, Paul Sipple, Joe Bucci, Joe Amann, Bailey Williams, Owen Callaghan, Korey Webber, Ethan Klan, Andrew Kolodychak, and Ryan Friedman.

Lastly, and probably the strongest area of the team, is the defense. The defense is led by seniors Ryan McKinsey, Caleb Noble, Phil Ferrare, Zach Shchouchkoff, and Andrew Burton. They also have Josh Kanne and Avery Ball to hold down the fort. If you somehow get past them, chances are goalie Josh Martin is going to stuff you. Martin finished out his freshman campaign with a .645 save percentage and is looking to continue his dominance as the starter.

“This year I expect a lot from the boys,” said Caleb Noble. “I see and want this group to make a serious playoff run and a possible state title. This is the group of guys I think have the best opportunity to do so.”

The Ramblers play their first game today at Meadville.

“The mindset is to stay out of the dirtiness and focus on my game,” said Ryan McKinsey.

Score Predictions:
Caleb Noble: 12-4 Prep
Justin Corsale: 12-5 Prep
Ryan McKinsey: 15-12 Prep
Me: 14-7 Prep
