Competitive Cheerleading season is officially underway, and the team is hitting the mat with energy, precision, and heart. As the team trains for upcoming competitions, students, faculty, staff, and families are invited to come out and support these athletes.
Competitive Cheerleading is not just about the routine; it is about witnessing a full-body, high-skill sport in action. It combines tumbling, jumping, dancing, and stunts, which demand physical and mental toughness from each performer. Additionally, the experience offers a powerful blend of athleticism, artistry, and school spirit that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
The athletes emphasize the value of the experience beyond the scoreboard. For Ava Haft ’28, it is about the moment on the mat.
“Competitive Cheerleading is tough both physically and mentally,” Ava said. “I love the feeling of going out on the mat and doing my routine. In that moment, everything disappears, and I love being on the floor with my favorite people.”
For others like Mira Abbate ’29 and Kathryne Connor ’28, it is about the teamwork and close bonds.
“My team feels like a family,” Mira said. “We practice hard, and it can be tough, but we laugh all the time. After all, the best memories are made together.”
Kathryne expressed a similar viewpoint.
“It means building trust and coming together as one,” Kathryne said. “I love the respect and support we have for each other.”
These shared viewpoints underscore the deeper connections athletes forge while pursuing their love for the sport, providing them with memories and friendships that last long after the competitions end.
As the season progresses, the Prep community is encouraged to attend upcoming competitions to cheer on these dedicated athletes, witness remarkable teamwork, and celebrate school spirit in action.
