December is here, which means Christmas is on the minds of students. This week, the staff wrote about their favorite Christmas song.

My favorite Christmas song would have to be “Last Christmas” by Wham! It’s a holiday classic and the first song I associate with Christmas. At any Christmas party I would go to as a kid, I would have to sing this song religiously at least once with a cup of hot chocolate in my hand. Another holiday banger would have to be “Feliz Navidad.”

My favorite Christmas song is “O Holy Night” by Mariah Carey. I love this song because it is very beautiful and I feel that it is very peaceful to listen to. I think the message of the song places emphasis on the reason for the Christmas season and reminds us what we are celebrating. I enjoy listening to this song in the evenings while working on homework, and especially on Christmas Eve driving to and from Mass. I look forward to listening to this song every holiday season.

My favorite Christmas song is the whole Michael Bublé Christmas album. I just think it’s a very classic sounding album that makes the holidays feel comfortable. Listening to the album while decorating your house or baking holiday treats and it feels like Christmas. Everyone has there preferences on which Christmas music they listen to, but the album has a very classical feeling in the music. The album is my favorite Christmas song/songs because the way the album embodies that classical Christmas feeling.

My favorite Christmas song is, “Twelve Days of Christmas.” Every year, my family hosts a huge Christmas party. At this party, we sing Christmas carols, and we save this song for last. The whole party splits up into 12 groups and sings the song together. The best part is my brother singing the five gold rings part as a solo. This song reminds me of the fun and memorable traditions my family has.

My favorite Christmas song is “Last Christmas” by Taylor Swift. I have loved this artist since childhood and have always been dancing and singing along to her music. The song “Last Christmas,” originally sung and written by Wham!, is a hopeful song and reminds me of a mystical winter wonderland. I love singing this song in the car with my friends while driving around the snowy countryside of this town.

Christmas has hundreds if not thousands of songs. It isn’t easy to pick a favorite, even if half of them are cheesy and slightly annoying sometimes. I’d say my favorite is Wham’s “Last Christmas”, which I’m aware is one of the cheesiest. Something about the catchy melodies make it nice to listen to. Also, it’s different than most Christmas songs, because its more melancholy than upbeat. I also like “Carol of the Bells.”
Dominick Scarpino
My favorite Christmas song is “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” by John Lennon. I have always thought that this was a really beautiful song. It’s simplicity in the music and lyrics is what makes it so great. It is a bit on the sad side, but I still enjoy it. A close second favorite song is definitely “Carol of the Bells” by Mykola Leontovych. I think that it is a great song for fight scenes in Christmas movies like the one in Home Alone.
