With Christmas break only days away, Christmas is on the minds of students. This week, the staff wrote about their favorite Christmas tradition.

My favorite holiday tradition is when my family goes to New York City to see my grandma. There’s nothing better than spending the best season in the biggest city in the world. A lot of my family that lives out of the country will fly in, and it’s always great to be around everyone playing games and dancing.

My favorite Christmas tradition is the time that my family and I spend together on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day. We always attend Christmas Eve Mass and go to my cousin’s house for dinner with my mom’s brothers and sister. Once we get home, my mom, dad, brother and I wear holiday pajamas, sit around the tree, and watch The Polar Express. In the morning, we open presents together and then make a huge breakfast full of all of our favorite foods. I always make pomegranate scones with chocolate, while my brother makes biscuits and gravy and my mom makes egg casserole and bacon. We watch movies and play board games all day, hanging out in our pajamas and just enjoying time together. I am so thankful to get to celebrate such a special holiday with the best people in the world.

My favorite Christmas tradition is when I’m with my family, and we binge-watch Christmas movies. We start on Christmas Eve, and we watch all of our favorite Christmas movies. We spend the whole night on Christmas Eve, and we’ll stay up late watching the movies. Then on Christmas Day we continue watching Christmas movies as we open up our presents. That has to be my favorite Christmas tradition because I am spending time with my family over the holidays and having the best time.

My favorite Christmas tradition is my family’s Christmas Eve party. Every year, my family hosts a huge party on my mom’s side. There is a ton of food, including a soup recipe that my great grandpa made. At the end of the night, we all gather in the living room and sing Christmas Carols. After we sing all of our songs, we get to exchange our Secret Santa gifts.

Every December just before Christmas has arrived, my family and I gather around my grandparents dining room table and decorate Christmas cookies together as a family. This tradition has been going on in my family sense long before my grandparents had children. It’s a special moment where the whole family is together, and there’s a sense of peace in the air knowing everyone’s home for Christmas. All different sorts of Sprinkles, frosting and tiny candies lay directly in the middle of the table. Everyone tells stories around the table; this tradition makes my heart feel fulfilled, I love being able to spend this time with my family. It’s truly a blessing.

My favorite Christmas tradition takes place on Christmas Eve. Every year, my entire family goes to my grandparents’ house. We have a large dinner with ham, potatoes, various dips, and lots of cookies. It normally is a 4 to 5 hour event. I really like it because it is a nice way to see all of my family and to enjoy some really delicious food.
