Yesterday was the national championship game of the first ever College Football Playoff. The Oregon Ducks played the Ohio State Buckeyes. Most everyone believed it was going to be a close game, or even that Oregon was going to blow the Buckeyes out, but ended up to be the other way around. Somehow the underdog Ohio State team came
out on top 42-20.
With the third string quarterback Cardale Jones playing only his third college game, he played like he had so much experience and played with a lot of coincidence to get Ohio State past the Ducks. Also, sophomore running back Ezekiel Elliott put on a show with 246 rushing yards on 36 carries and four touchdowns. He ran all over Oregon’s defense, and they couldn’t find a way to slow him down.
To start the game, the Oregon Ducks came out on the first drive and put 7 points on the board. After that Ohio State put that behind them and began to destroy the Ducks defense. Even though Heisman trophy winning quarterback Marcus Mariota had 333 yards and two touchdowns for Oregon, the Buckeyes’ defense made it their first priority to stop Mariota, and they did that by limiting Mariota to only 39 rushing yards.
The final score of the game was 42-20, and the Ohio State Buckeyes was the 2015 national championship in college football.
